Coorg:Cherambane witnessed Codava National Council’s (CNC) peaceful human chain protest.

A peaceful human chain protest rally was held at Cherambane town on September 10. There’s been large scale felling of trees in the western ghats and also huge tracts of land being grabbed through leases.

The Codavas, also spoke “about explosives being used in quarrying operations near Sunticoppa side”. The Harangi dam is close by to the quarrying site. All environmental norms have been violated, and the concerned agencies have turned a blind eye to such illegal activities.

The protest rally was led by Adv. N.U. Nachappa Codava, and there was huge participation by locals who supported it.
