The imposing edifice visible from NH 04 (on Pune-Bengaluru highway) has completed 12 years, since it was inaugurated by Late former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, on October 11, 2012. The purpose of building the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi, as the second capital of Karnataka state, was to hear and solve the problems of the people in north Karnataka.

Since the structure has been built, few sessions are held throughout the calendar year. But the winter session has become an annual event in December. The winter session begins on December 09, in Belagavi for the next 10-12 days.

Bengaluru along with other cities in India, has emerged as the one of the software hub. But the same cannot be said of other cities in Karnataka. The southern Karnataka cities and regions are far ahead in attracting investments, and hence have become the preferred destinations for people from across the country. The state capital Bengaluru, has seen growth beyond comparison, but are the planners aware that it has crossed the threshold in its carrying capacity? One can recollect the flooding during the monsoons and how parts of the city were submerged, and it made national and international headlines.

Karnataka is blessed with all the bounties of nature and has diverse agro-climatic zones: Malnad; coastal and arid regions in all the corners of the state. Dharwad-Hubballi are the other cities which are considered as the engines of growth in north Karnataka. The negatives and positives from all northern districts in the state have to be thoroughly studied. Customized development plans for each district must be made accordingly for balanced growth and development.

Likewise, the other large cities and districts in north Karnataka should get huge investments for better growth, and all round development of the state. The tourist circuits starting from: Belagavi, Dharwad, Bagalkot, Haveri, Vijayapura (Bijapur), Gadag, Koppal, Raichur, Ballary, Bidar, Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) and Uttara Kannada (U.K) districts in the state have to developed. Tourism attracts local, national and international tourists and helps in creating jobs.
