The annual winter session now being held in Belagavi started from December 09, 2024. This year a ‘Soap Mela’ is being organized by the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), a Government of Karnataka Undertaking Company. A Soap Mela being held at Mahatma Gandhi Vishwastha Mandal’s Cultural Hall (MGVM) College Road, Belagavi from 10.12.2024 to 19.12.2024 for consumers of the city and surrounding towns. The organizers want people’s participation and support to make this a grand success.
The soaps are known across the globe for its famous Mysore Sandal Soap, which is accredited with Geographical Indication Registry and it is the Intellectual Property of India. Mysore Sandal Soap has completed 108 years of existence and very few consumer product companies across the
globe have enjoyed the trust for over 100 years of consumer satisfaction.
The Company manufactures around 50 different products ranging from Soaps, Detergents, Cosmetics, Agarbathies and the world famous Sandal wood Oil. The other products are: Mysore Sandal Soap, Mysore Sandal Gift Pack, Mysore Sandal Gold Soap, Mysore Sandal Gold Sixer, Mysore Sandal Dhoop, Mysore Sandal Agarbathies, Mysore Sandal Herbal Hand Wash, Kleenol, Mysore Sandal Baby Soap, Sandal wood Billets, Sandal Wood oil, Mysore Carbolic Soap, Mysore Washing Half Bar and Mysore Detergent Cake are the notable brands which are very popular in the market.
The product Mysore Sandal Millennium Luxury Soap which was launched during 2012 has become one of the popular brand in the Super Premium Soaps category in the country. The product contains pure natural sandalwood oil, added with other key essential oils viz., Vetivert, Patchouli, Geranium, Cederwood, Clove, Orange, Almond Oil, Glycerine, etc.,
The Company has taken up the initiative program “GROW MORE SANDAL” by making available to the farmers sandalwood saplings at a very subsidized price.
The Company has received various awards for export performance and cost accounting, including the coveted Chief Minister’s Ratna Award in the year 2010, 2017 &2019 for excellence in progressive growth. The Company is certified with ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Assurance and with ISO 14001: 2015 for Environment Policy. It is continuously registering steady growth year over year (YoY), and giving stiff competition to the multinational companies (MNCs), during the year 2023-24. KSDL achieved a turnover of Rs.1571 crores and registered a Profit of Rs.362 crores. For the financial year 2024-25, it has made steady progress in all states.
The flag ship brand of the Company Mysore Sandal Soap is growing in volumes at the rate of 16% per annum. Its other popular brand Mysore Sandal Gold Soap has also achieved 50% growth during 2023-24. During the Current Financial Year 2024-25, the Company up to Nov – 2024 has achieved Sales of around Rs.1210.50 crores against a target Rs.1091.71 crores.
KSDL has been organizing Soap Mela in district headquarters of Karnataka, to further popularize the brand. The varied products being sold to the public at a discounted price, so that it reaches all the households of the state and increase brand awareness among the consumers.
