The Pavada Kshetra Shri Beerdevara Devasthan, is home to a temple of great historicity and there are legends associated with it. The temple has hereditary priests (Pujeri/Pujaris); and it’s management is with a local family having privileges. Along with the locals, the temple is visited by the devout throughout the year. Devotees from the neighbouring states of Goa & Maharashtra also visit the place in large numbers.

The devotees after their customary prayers, make offerings to the presiding deity. The joint families visit in large groups with their kith and kin. During their visit, they stay within the temple premises.
Public utilities like clean washrooms to relieve is everyone’s right to privacy and personal dignity. Are we really open defecation free (ODF) in the 21st century? Pay & use toilets address the issue in a limited way. But are they really enough?
Clean toilets are no longer to be considered a luxury, and are a basic necessity. During a visit to Karagaon village in Chikkodi taluk of Belagavi district in northwest Karnataka; the reality witnessed there, was a rude wake up call.
One such group from Goa, visited the temple in a large group of 25-30 individuals consisting members of all age groups. The men and women folk we spoke to, had one request to the temple’s management committee,
“to build changing rooms, washrooms and toilets be built in close vicinity of the temple complex”. They all repeated the same message over and over again.
