Dr. Vasant Bandekar needs no introduction, as he’s known for his versatility. A resident of Sadashivgad, Karwar, Uttara Kannada (U.K) district. He’s a familiar face in the literary circles and his love for Konkani language is unmatched. He’s also proficient in Hindi, Kannada, Konkani and Marathi
languages.
On the occasion of the 32nd Konkani national celebration day, held at Hindu High School auditorium on August 25, 2024 in Karwar. His 1000-years-old research based Kannada guide bòok, “1000 Varsha Itihasad: Konkani Mahiti Shodha Granth”, on the history of the Konkani language, was formally released by Rev. Father Richard Rodrigues.
He can imitate 10 musical instruments like the: flute, sitar, veena, shehnai, banjo, saxophone, jalataranga, violin and the conch shell. He has also imitated 14 playback singers like late Mohd Rafi, Mukesh, Kishor Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and the sole surviving Asha Bhosale. Dr. Vasant, is known for his unique way of dialogue delivery, songs and dances. He’s known to have imitated all India folk song styles of Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. He can do 10 different types of Hindi film dances from1950s till the current day. His other talent is, he can crack jokes; do one act plays; can walk in different styles and also enthral the audience with his other acts of laughing and weeping. Along with regional and Hindi cinema, he can also imitate English pop and Indian classical music. Dr.Vasant Bandekar is a Guiness record fame holder; and a winner of state and national level awards on Zee TV, Chandan TV, Udaya TV and Goa TV.
Honour of Titles Dr. Bandekar, is a winner of many awards and his fame is known far and wide. The accolades and appreciation he’s honoured with is a testimony to his talent and wide popularity across the length and breadth of the country.
